As we turn the page to August, glimpses of fall are beginning to catch our eye. At jb and me, we are seeing the arrival of warmer layers, cozy knits and most excitingly: new trends. The color palette is cool, taking the traditional fall hues of gold and brown and pairing them with burnt mustard, hunter green and dusty pinks. The deep burgundy and wine colored trend has carried over from last year and the off shoulder style is still going strong; this time emerging in heavier knits and long sleeves. The straight leg and kick flare are strong for Fall, paired with loafers or booties. One trend that is influencing denim and many other styles is Embroidery.
We are seeing embroidery on everything from hats and handbags to blouses, denim and shoes. The colors are muted and the designs simple. It works almost like an accessory would, adding a slight flare to your outfit and raising the element of interesting.
Our popular Driftwood denim features muted floral prints strategically placed on the side or bottom cuff of their Marilyn and Colette fits. I love both of these jeans paired with a suede bootie. The open toe of the Madeline Lily Bootie is the perfect transitional shoe and would look equally as good with a tunic dress or denim skirt.
I am a little obsessed with the Matisse Biance shoe. Maybe it’s the sweet pink flower or the fact that you literally slide them on your feet and go. They go with everything! Don’t let the floral embroidery limit you! I would pair these beauties with striped tops and denim, a midi dress and wide leg trousers. They are incredibly versatile. The only thing I would suggest would be to avoid too much embroidery in one outfit. Less is probably more with this trend.
I have recently begun wearing a lot of hats. Mostly because it alleviates the need to do my hair. Jb and Me is carrying the cutest embroidered hats right now that will not only save you time in the morning, but will look adorable too. This is a quick and easy way to work the embroidered trend.
As you peek through the new arrivals on the website or browse the racks at the store, you will notice lots of embroidered blouses; transitional pieces and fall. Some have a slight bohemian vibe, but this trend truly carries over into classic fits and subtle styles. Check out the Sanctuary Stevie, it’s one of my favorites!
Some people like Christmas, others describe summer as their favorite time of the year. For me, I love the arrival of fall clothing. New styles, new layers and of course, new boots. As the great Carrie Bradshaw once said, “I like my money where I can see it…in my closet.” Amen to that.
