As we continue to be awed daily by new fall arrivals, we are seeing and feeling the velvet trend. Typically, I am not a velvet girl – too hot, too formal for me. But, this year, velvet is catching my attention. The styles are funky, not formal. I fell in love with a pair of black velvet Free People booties. I plan to run away with them. Literally. Also, a really great thing about the new velvet reprisal is that the pieces are really transitional - you can wear them now! And, it’s soft - like pajamas.

I really like this Cut Out Choker V-Neck Dress. The fit, the color and the texture are amazing and the choker aspect is right on trend. This is great now with a strappy stiletto or worn into fall with a denim jacket and boots.

The Velvet Lace Cami is just the right hint of sexy. I like that it is a slightly flowy fit. This is a great date night top and can be worn later with a blazer or the ever-amazing denim jacket!

Perhaps the most important of all are the velvet shoes. I will have to be careful, because one can only have so many pairs of velvet shoes. I love the Coconuts Funky Loafer in black velvet and the Dolce Vita Zalen Sneaker in Mink. I would wear these now with short, flirty dresses and later with long denim.
