“Self-care is not selfish. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.” – Eleanor Brownn
Life is hectic, busy, full of unknowns, etc., BUT it is also a beautiful beautiful journey, a blessing, and an incredible gift. Thus with all the hustle and bustle of daily life, it can easily slip by how important it is to take care of oneself and we can fall into a downward spiral of taking care of everything else but ourselves. Taking care of oneself is imperative in dealing with stressors in life and allows us to be “ready” to take on life’s challenges with resiliency versus exhaustion & despair. Furthermore, keep in mind self-care is on-going and not just a one time to-do, it’s a daily, weekly, monthly & yearly way to show your body, mind & soul much love. It will look different for each of us, yet with the same end result, refueling & feeding our needs in order to show up not only for ourselves but also for those we love.
By no means is the following list exhaustive, only some of my favorite ways to take
care of me:
Invest in the care of your skin (face & full body): Give yourself a mini facial with our
Lapcos single use masks or create your own with the amazing Farmhouse Fresh
products in store / Light your favorite Swan Creek Candle / Utilize aromatherapy
daily / Take a bubble bath or use bath bombs-my new favorite is the Farmhouse
Fresh Watermelon scent / Write in your favorite journal each morning or night /
Embrace daily Tech free time–reduce screen time usage on all your devices (use
“screen time” in your Iphone to help schedule if needed) / Turn your Phone 100%
off and enjoy quiet time / Cuddle up and read / Get Massages on a regular basis /
Move & sweat in a way that makes you happy and even more importantly, that is
kind to your body and mind / Meditate / Eat a healthy meal / Pray / Get a Manicure
& Pedicure or give yourself one / Take a Mental health day / Stay in versus going
out / Splurge on yourself / Donate your time to a community organization / Say no
(to over committing) / Stop apologizing for things out of your control / Treat
yourself with something sweet / Prioritize you / Slow down / De-clutter a closet /
Express gratitude no matter how big or small / Laugh / Breathe deep for 1-5
minutes / Acknowledge your feelings / Enjoy the present / Have a dance party in
your living room / Invest in yourself-be a continuous learner / Nap / Spend time in
nature no matter the season / Call a friend or family member / Meet up with
someone who fills your cup / Look in the mirror & tell yourself why you love your
body (each time choose a different reason) / Enjoy a healthy meal with loved ones.
No matter how you choose to take care of you, commit to living 2019 to the fullest – emotionally, physically & mentally!
Comment below with your favorite means of self-care, I’d love to hear from you.
