Summer Skin
Summer is synonymous with the beach and tan lines and pool hair, but some of our favorite warm weather past times can wreak havoc on our skin. I try and keep mine exfoliated and as moisturized as possible. If you have not stopped by jb and me to check out their skincare lines, you should! They feature a number of lines that are natural and organic. Below are a few of Jamie’s favorite summer picks that I just had to check out for myself.
FarmHouse Fresh features skincare products that are either certified organic or use up to 99.6% natural and naturally derived ingredients. Most of the line is made from fruits, vegetables and milks. It has been featured numerous times in Oprah magazine, even making her Favorite Things List multiple years! Here are a few to check out this summer:
Honey Lavender Fine Salt Scrub
95% natural, vegan and gluten free, this fine grain Honey-Lavender body scrub has the subtle scent of honey and fresh garden lavender. It is made with Vitamin E rich rice bran oil that leaves skin soft and smooth. I like to use this scrub all over, but I focus especially on my legs in the summer. Short shorts and swingy dresses call for fresh legs and I find that regular exfoliating is key.
Oils and Creams
With names like Fluffy Bunny, Front Porch, Rainbow Road, Quinsyberry Botanical and Citrine Beach, the body oils and creams of Farmhouse Fresh are meant to impress. 96% natural, vegan and gluten free, the body oils are lightweight and fast absorbing, yet ultra-moisturizing. The creams are made with shea butter, Vitamin E and jojoba oil. Like the oils, they are deeply moisturizing without feeling greasy. Like all FHF products, the oils and creams are paraben and sulfate free. I always follow exfoliating with moisturizer, and both the Farmhouse Fresh oils and creams are great options.
Skinny is the only coconut oil on the market that is wild harvested, hand pressed, small batched, never heated, 100% raw, 100% virgin, and 100% without chemicals and solvents. All of the products in the line contain five or less all-natural, edible ingredients. I read a number of reviews that raved about adding the Vanilla Bean Sugar Scrub to coffee. Apparently, it tastes great! Skinny and Co. was also recently featured at the Goop Summit, Gwyneth Paltrow’s healthy living and wellness curation. It is a relatively new player in the natural skincare realm, but the early buzz suggests it will emerge strongly.
This scrub contains coconut sugar, coconut oil and vanilla bean. It is gentle on skin yet works as a very effective exfoliator. Application is easy and the coconut oil moisturizes deeply, leaving skin soft and glowing. This scrub is a great prep for self-tanner and also works really well on lips. And you can add it to your coffee!!
Featuring a subtle rose scent, this allergen-free body butter offers long-lasting moisture and is a great follow-up to the sugar scrub. Add it to a bath, or use as a hair mask or under eye treatment. It is made with Skinny’s 100% raw coconut oil, jojoba oil, rose oil and Vitamin E.
Summer is a busy season for most of us, but it is nice to find time to treat yourself. Adding a scrub to your shower routine can feel like a little luxury. Remember, glowing skin is always in style and a great accessory to all your favorite summer fashions!
