HIIT it on vacation
It’s that time of year when summer vacations are in full swing and workouts tend to
take a backseat. Of course outdoor activities become a priority in the warmer weather and allow us to explore nature in full bloom when engaging in activities such as hiking, kayaking, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, fishing, biking, running, walking your favorite furry friend, playing catch, Frisbee and even gardening and yard work just to name a few.
However, for those moments when you are short on time or in a hotel room, yet in
need of a workout (we have all been there right?!), try this body weight 30 minute
high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout - all you need is YOU, a little space, a
towel, and water.
Complete each exercise listed below for 30 seconds/then rest for 30 seconds prior
to the next move. (*if you have less time and/or are looking for a more intense
cardio push, try 35 seconds on/15 seconds off)
1. Squat jumps
2. Jumping jacks
3. Mt. Climbers
4. Broad Jumps
5. Fast feet/high knees
6. Bicycles
7. Jump lunges
8. Burpees
Complete 3 rounds of the 8 exercises following a dynamic warm up. Be sure to cool
down and stretch following the workout, in addition to hydrating and fueling the
body.
*Keep in mind that all exercises may be completed without jumping and/or at a slower pace for lower impact as needed, and ALWAYS remember, your body = your workout, you control the intensity knowing each day may be a little different!
Happy Sweating,
