For the last few weeks, I have gazed wistfully at the line-up of boots in my closet. Although I am more than willing to sacrifice comfort for fashion, even I can’t muster the courage to go full fall in the 95-degree heat. But, as they say in Winterfell, “Winter is coming” and the option of sandals will not be around much longer. Jb and me is definitely the mecca for fall boots and here is a glimpse at the biggest styles of the season:
Winter Wedges – Thank goodness for wedges. They give height in a comfortable manner. No teetering on a skinny heal in the ice and snow for me this winter! You can look stylish and tall in a perfect wedge boot. I have too many favorites to mention them all, but here are a few of the top picks.
The Sorel wedges are amazing because they are waterproof and good for everyday wear. The Lea is a sleeker style with an interesting mix of black and navy. The PDX is a lace-up boot that will add a pop of fun to your jeans and parka ensemble.
OTBT and Miz Mooz both offer slightly more dressed up options with the Vagary and the Adela wedges. The Vagary is a wedge bootie in a great neutral color, while the Adela is a hybrid sneaker/bootie/wedge that will surely garner frequent compliments.
Finally, the Madeline Priceless wedge bootie is a faux suede shoe in the color of the season – Bordeaux wine. This is great paired with dark skinnies or a slinky mini and tights.
Over the Knee – Every once in a while, the over the knee boot makes an appearance for fall. It is reminiscent of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, and gives an edgy, sexy vibe to any outfit. Jb and Me has a couple different options in the over the knee trend. The Nicole Clooney comes in two colors, black leather and a brown suede/leather combo. This boot hits right around the knee cap and looks great with super skinny jeans or leggings. I am loving the Madeline Burdock Boot. It comes in black or gray faux suede and features the option to wear slouchy. These boots are a fabulous fashion statement and a great value at $89.00. Madeline also features a flat, over the knee style, the Turf, in a faux suede black. This is a great, comfortable, easy version of the trend that also features a braided design on the back of the leg. Another great price point at $79.00. I’m guessing these won’t be around long!
Booties – If you have not tried booties yet, you must! They are a great option for fall/winter -
the perfect in-between of a shoe and boot - and truly a must-have for Michigan living. A bootie is best paired with leggings or super skinny jeans in cold temps. This year it is all about the peek-a- boo effect (cold shoulders, cut-outs). Wear your denim ankle length or cuffed with a bootie and show a peek of skin; or try out the sheer sock trend for a peek between boot and cuff. Speaking of socks, we are seeing colorful and patterned socks layered over skinny denim and worn with a bootie. This is a great way to pop some fashion and stay warm at the same time. Again, so hard to just choose a couple, but, my picks for booties are the Cat Cider Bootie, Matisse Proper, Madeline Bramble, Free People Cecile and the Billabong Talia. The Cider, Bramble and Talia styles are wonderful basics and the Bramble and the Cecile are classically
trendy. You might need a pair of each.
Bed Stu – Having a conversation about boots at jb and me would not be complete without
paying due respect to the Bed Stu collection. Picture a boot, timeless in style yet right on trend. Perfectly vintage and worn in; featuring detail and texture that finds a quintessential balance between classic and rock n roll. Meet Bed Stu. If you don’t already own a pair, you may want to consider investing. The styles are truly timeless and the quality so high that you can wear them forever. Three of my current favorites in the store are the Bed Stu Blaire, the Selina and the Burnley.
A great pair of boots is a wardrobe must-have - like finding the perfect jeans or a handbag that goes with everything. Trust me, you will find your fit at jb and me!
