I love fashion. Some people may not understand fashion as a hobby - like fishing or antiquing might be considered - but for me, fashion IS a hobby. I am a faithful subscriber to Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue magazine, my Instagram feed is filled with mommy bloggers sharing functional finds; I am also kind of obsessed with the “street style” of fashion mavens like Jessica Alba and Gwyneth Paltrow.
To me, fashion is art. It’s a creative outlet, and a very personal form of expression. When my favorite style squad at JB and Me asked me to combine my love of fashion and writing for their blog, I was beyond thrilled! A sneak peek at all the new arrivals, count me in!! So grab your iced coffee or favorite bubbly beverage and join me in swooning and styling over all the fabulous new arrivals from JB and Me!
These eighty degree days make it feel like summer is truly here. I love the weeks between Spring and Summer, standing on the cusp of a new season - the whole summer ahead of you - waiting to be filled with adventures and barbeques and beach days.
This week Jamie photographed me in a collection of cute, summer dresses. I thought that many of them were perfect for occasions such as graduation open houses, weddings or Holiday weekend parties. The current warm weather reminds me that although cropped denim is amazing – extreme heat calls for a cute, breezy dress. I instantly loved the Jack Peggy Halter Dress. The material was light-weight and the pattern was bright enough to say “fun” but low-key enough for a minimalist like myself to feel comfortable in. Styled with the bright blue Free People bralette and the Miz Mooz sandals, I felt put together and pretty. The Magali Printed Crinkle Dress, also by Jack, has a similar silhouette but a smaller print for those of us who may be afraid of a lot of pattern. (Both dresses are lined, which makes choosing undergarments much easier). For a slightly more casual feel, the Kindsley Off Shoulder Dress by Jack and the White Waffle Cold Shoulder Dress are really great options. I love the easy, sassiness of showing off your shoulders. There is something soo feminine about the style; it reveals just enough to be sexy but classy at the same time. These two dresses are perfect for long weekends at the beach. (The White Waffle Dress has a great lining in it and is NOT see through!! THANK YOU, design team.) They work as easy pull ons over swimsuits, or, dress them up and pair with lace up sandals for dinner out.
The Embroidered Tie Dress and the Maxi Shirt Dress are two upscale dresses at AMAZING prices. The Embroidered Tie ($59.00) is a creamy chiffon-like dream with contrast black detail on the shoulder and neckline. It makes a statement while being soft and sweet. Paired with a dressy black flat or heel, this look is perfect for a wedding or summer evening event. (A smoky eye would look AMAZE with this too.) Jamie and I were interested to see how the Maxi Shirt Dress ($51.00) would look on and we were VERY impressed. I would describe it as Hamptons-esque. I’ve never been to the Hamptons, but I can imagine wearing this to a summer brunch or book party in Sag Harbor. So, if you’re headed to the Hamptons and on a budget, this dress is for you!! Or, if you’re from Michigan and just want a really cool, sophisticated look – you should check it out!
On the casual front, I loved the Bobi drawstring shirred pants. As a mom of a four-year-old, comfort is key. On the days I spend running errands with my daughter, a slouchy, capri-length jogger is perfect. I am also loving the new t-shirts by Chaser Brand. The Deconstructed Cold Shoulder tee is on trend and comfortable on warm days. The Off Shoulder tee is sweet and feminine and can be casual with denim shorts or dressed up with capris and heels. I love the olive green shade. It is neutral but has a nice boldness to it. I was drawn to the Ribbed V-neck Tee by Chaser too. I love the dove gray color and the front pocket detail. I am always in search of great t-shirts and this one needs to be in my closet.
I am usually a denim and tee girl, meaning I tend to stock up on denim and t-shirts when I shop. But lately, I have been lusting on shoes! For our recent photo shoot, Jamie chose a pair of Nicole sandals – the Tris style in gold and a Miz Mooz Alanis in blue. First of all, they were both beyond comfortable. The Tris reminded me of a sneaker, sandal and dressy platform fusion. Seriously, the amount of different outfits you could put this shoe with is endless. The platform was high enough to give a nice lift, but not so high that I felt like I was going to topple over (something I HAVE done before on a platform heel). The Alanis style by Miz Mooz was the perfect, minimalistic sandal. The bright blue leather made it fun and cheeky, but the style itself is classic and comfortable. A win-win for me – and you!
I hope you have had as much fun reading this blog as I have had writing it. I look forward to this exciting collaboration with JB and Me. They have and always will be my stylish soul sisters! We hope this blog will inspire new outfits or encourage you to try a new look. We know that true beauty lies within, but it’s sure fun to dress-up the outside! Happy Shopping xo
