September Style
September is one of my favorite months. There is a calmness that settles in this time of year.
Children return to school, life becomes more scheduled and a hint of crispness enters the air. Jb and Me is welcoming fall - from window displays to chunky sweaters to distressed leather boots. I love that September in Michigan means knit sweaters with flip flops, flirty dresses with tall boots and faded tan lines under fleece jackets. The mood in store has definitely shifted from easy summer to cozy fall. Here are my latest picks for the upcoming season…
Free People Getaway Cardigan – This might be the softest sweater I’ve ever put on. I love that it is both lightweight and cozy. It also seems like the knit will hold its shape and not stretch with wear. I believe that fall is synonymous with cardigans and this one is a great option that will cover a lot of wardrobe bases. I would wear the Getaway Cardi with denim or over a maxi dress. It would also look great with leggings and a tee. (If you haven’t heard already, jb and me is carrying Spanx leggings and they are ah-mazing!)
Free People Milan Top – An example of the velvet trend, this cropped pullover is oh so pretty
and oh so soft. Though a skeptic at first, I was definitely impressed by the fit, the feel and the style of this top. First, the color is beautiful – ice pink. The sleeves are drapey (on trend), yet the look is subtle despite its fashion forward nature. Great date night top paired with dark denim and heels or casual with flares and a headband.
Cupcakes and Cashmere Selma Dress and Floral Ruffle Cold Shoulder Dress – Both of these dresses give off a romantic, vintage-chic vibe. I love them paired with booties now. As the weather gets cooler, you could wear the Floral Cold Shoulder dress with dark skinny jeans and tall boots. The slightly shorter, tunic length would work for that look. The Selma Dress could be worn with a navy legging and a flat shoe or bootie. Both are sweet, feminine options that will transition well into winter. And, the Floral Ruffle Cold Shoulder Dress is $45.00!!
Velvet Bomber – I have to say that when I put on the Velvet Bomber I became a little nostalgic for Grease Lightening and Danny Zuco. I think the Pink Ladies wore satin, but still…The current bomber jacket is highlighted in this fall’s favorite fabric – velvet. It’s perfect with jeans, a cropped dress slack or over a slim dress. This is a coat you can wear inside, as part of your outfit. It is lightweight, yet super soft and cozy. It’s also a great price at $53.00.
Matisse Crescant in Leopard – These loafers are comfortable and they go with everything. I
wore them throughout the photo shoot and kept remarking on how they looked great with all
outfits. The leopard print works as a neutral yet gives an increased element of style to a
conservative jeans and t-shirt ensemble.
I know we are all enjoying what is left of our warm days. I love Labor Day weekend because my birthday usually falls on it; – and, because it’s the perfect send off to summer and nod to fall. It’s also a perfect weekend to be downtown shopping at Jb and Me and picking out some amazing fall favorites.
Summer, we don’t say goodbye, just see you later.
