On Thursday, January 14, we released our new Free People Spring collection during a fun little store
event. Kelly, our Free People Rep paid us a visit and shared a little insight about the Free People brand
and gave us some great layering and styling tips. If you were not able to attend, do not fret; we’re going
to share a few things right here!
Free People began in the 1970’s when a small warehouse was opened where college students swapped
and sold their clothing to other students. After a few years, when there was more than one store, the
store was re-named to Urban Outfitters. From there grew other names, but, in the 1980’s, as the
different stores took on different personalities, Free People was reborn and continues today.
Talking about different personalities, it was interesting to find out that Free People clothing is inspired by five different personalities, also known as the Free People girls.
Lou, who is laid-back and carefree and found wearing denim and a t-shirt.
Meadow who is a free spirit and wears boho looks.
Ginger, who is more elegant and charming.
Candy who is a girly-girl and wears everything feminine.
Sandy who is a beach-goer.
Which Free People girl are you?
As for styling Free People, it’s all about layering, never falling short of three pieces – short over long,
long over short, flirty bottoms popping out, a little lace bralette peeking at the neckline, the possibilities
are endless. Come on in and check out all the new product - we would love to show you how to be a
Free People girl!
